Abstract
clinical analysis of one hundred and thirty four consecutive cases of diagnostic laparoscopy has been done for an evaluation of its usefulness in the diagnosis gynecologic disorders from August, 1990 to May, 1992. Infertility is the most common
problem
which renders itself to laparoscopic evaluation. The results reveal pelvic abnormalities in 82.2% of 45 infertile patients and pelvic adhesions are the most common abnormalities. In 62.9% of the clinically suspected ectopic pregnancy and in 88.9%
of the
clinically suspected ovarian bleeding. The diagnosis is confirmed by laparoscopic examination. In non-infertile 67 patients, unnecessary laparotomy was avoided in 43.6%. In conclusion, the laparoscopy is a reliable and confirmative diagnostic
procedure
in gynecologic disorders, and can circumvent unnecessary laparotomy in some cases by providing a definite diagnosis.
